James Trumble

Assistant Fire Chief James Trumble brings more than 25 years of progressive fire service experience, leadership, and instructional expertise to the Kuna Rural Fire District. His career in the fire service began in 1997 as a volunteer with the Mount Laguna Volunteer Fire Department in San Diego County, California. During his tenure there, he completed both the U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE academies and served on multiple large-scale campaign wildfires throughout the region.

In 2002, Assistant Chief Trumble joined Las Vegas Fire & Rescue in Nevada, where he would go on to serve with distinction for over two decades. His roles within the department included Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter, Engineer, and Captain. Over the course of his service, Assistant Chief Trumble demonstrated a deep commitment to training and operational excellence. He served as a Logistics Specialist for the Nevada FEMA team, was the Lead Instructor for the Engineer Development Program, and acted as an Advanced Driver Trainer within the department’s Engineer training division. In addition, he was instrumental in the development and implementation of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue’s Wildland/Urban Interface Program.

Upon his retirement from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue in 2023, Assistant Chief Trumble was appointed Assistant Fire Chief for the Kuna Rural Fire District in Idaho. In this role, he continues to bring strategic leadership, operational insight, and a strong emphasis on training and community resilience. He is also contributing to the formation of an Incident Management Team in partnership with the Idaho Office of Emergency Management, serves on the Board of Directors for the College of Western Idaho’s Fire Service Internship Program, and is a board member for Firefighters for Gem County.

Assistant Chief Trumble holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Technology Management from the College of Southern Nevada and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Fire Administration through Columbia Southern University. He is also actively working toward obtaining his Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

•           Wildland Fire: S-130, S-190, S-230

•           Emergency Medical & HazMat: Advanced EMT, Hazardous Materials Operations Level

•           Training Roles: Advanced Driver Trainer, State Fire Service Training Instructor and Proctor for both Nevada and Idaho

 

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Assistant Chief Trumble is a dedicated family man. He enjoys spending quality time with his wife, particularly enjoying date nights, fine wine, and exceptional food. He is also a passionate automotive enthusiast and finds great joy in driving his classic car. Above all, he takes pride in being a devoted “girl dad” to his two young adult daughters.
